Top 7 Filtered Showerheads, Tested and Ranked by a Real Plumber (2026)

My clients have been asking me about these for a year. I never had an answer. So I bought all seven, brought them to my workbench, and opened every single one.

Every other house I walk into now has a filtered showerhead. I've been doing this 19 years, and about a year ago I started noticing them everywhere. One house has a Jolie. Next house has a Canopy. The one after that has something I've never even heard of. Clients keep asking me the same thing: "Jake, is this thing actually doing anything?" And honestly, I never had a good answer. I'd never cracked one open.

I never had an answer for them but I knew what I was pulling out of their pipes. Rust. Sediment. Biofilm buildup in lines that hadn't been flushed in years.

That's what the inside of your pipes can look like. And that's just the stuff you can see. The stuff you can't see is worse. Chlorine, chloramines, heavy metals, disinfection byproducts from aging city infrastructure. Your water is technically legal. That doesn't mean it's clean. If you've ever gotten out of the shower and your skin felt tight or your hair felt dry for no reason, that's not in your head. That's your water.

Then last month my wife Sarah shoved her phone in my face. Chrome showerhead. Some influencer swearing it cleared up her skin. Sarah's been dealing with dry skin and thinning hair for over a year now. Itchy scalp every night, hair in the brush every morning. She's tried expensive shampoos. Dermatologist-recommended moisturizers. Silk pillowcases. Cold water rinses. Nothing worked. I watched the video, took one look at that housing and told her, "Don't buy that. Give me a week."

Seven filtered showerheads laid out on workbench

I ordered the seven most popular filtered showerheads on the market. Installed each one, ran them, pulled them apart on my workbench. Sarah handled the research. Oasis ratings, Water Filter Guru lab reports, Reddit threads, Trustpilot, BBB complaints. Here's what I found inside each one.

eskiin

$115 · Oasis Score: 71/100 (Highest Rated) · 250,000+ Sold
4.9 (12,400+ reviews)
eskiin showerhead

This one popped up as an ad on my phone. Guy named Wes talking about how he struggled with eczema, couldn't figure out what was causing it, turned out it was his shower water. That's how eskiin started. I'd never heard of it before but it's got over 250,000 sold and a 4.9 on like 12,000 reviews, so I figured it was worth cracking open.

Cracked it open and there's a lot going on inside. Most of the showerheads I pulled apart had maybe 2 or 3 filter ingredients. This one has 15. Activated carbon, KDF-55, calcium sulfite, maifan stone, ceramic balls, sediment layers. And then two ultrafiltration membranes at 0.2 microns, which is tiny. Like 350 times smaller than a hair. That's catching microplastics, bacteria, stuff the other filters on this list don't even attempt.

Oasis is this independent platform that scores water filters. They gave eskiin a 71 out of 100. For reference, Jolie got a 48 and Canopy got a 64. It's not close.

The weird part was the pressure. I've been doing this 19 years and every filter I've ever put in makes the pressure worse. More stuff in the way, less water gets through. Basic physics. eskiin has this HydroBoost thing, stainless steel mesh that pushes the water harder instead of slowing it down. Up to 200% stronger. Sarah didn't know I'd changed the head out. She came out of the shower and just said "don't touch it."

It's $115. Filter lasts 90 days, $33 to replace. I had it installed in about five minutes. They ship from the US and someone actually picks up if you call. 60 days to try it, full refund if you're not into it.

Jolie

$169 · Oasis Score: 48/100
3.2
Jolie showerhead

The most visible showerhead on the market right now. 700 million TikTok views. $169. When I cracked it open: two filter ingredients. KDF-55 and calcium sulfite. Water Filter Guru ran independent tests and found Jolie does nothing for disinfection byproducts, and some contaminants actually went UP after filtering. Oasis scored it 48 out of 100. Lowest premium showerhead they've tested. Beautiful design. Two ingredients inside. No phone number for customer service.

Canopy

$150 · Oasis Score: 64/100
4.1
Canopy showerhead

Solid brand with a good reputation from their humidifier line. Three stream settings, decent pressure. I was honestly impressed on the install. Then the independent lab data came in. Water Filter Guru found that after filtering, lead levels went UP by 404%. Zinc went up by 8,797%. This filter was actively leaching heavy metals into the water. We have two kids. When Sarah saw the lead number she made me pull it off the wall that night. Good product design on the outside. Concerning results on the inside.

Hello Klean

$125 · Not listed on Oasis
3.8
Hello Klean showerhead

Best build quality of anything I tested. Sold at Sephora. Beautiful aluminum machining, clean threads, installs in under a minute. But filtration-wise it handles chlorine and not much else. Nothing for microplastics, bacteria, disinfection byproducts, or ultrafiltration. Their solution for the gaps is their own shampoo and body wash line at $22 to $28 per bottle. Great hardware. Incomplete filtration unless you buy their full product ecosystem.

Afina

$129 · Oasis Score: 48/100
3.4
Afina showerhead

Three filter ingredients. Slight improvement over Jolie in terms of what's inside the housing. But the filter only lasts 60 days and replacements run $29. That's $174 a year in filters alone, the highest ongoing cost on this list. No independent lab testing anywhere that I could find. Their own website ratings run a full point higher than Amazon and every third-party review platform. And if you cancel the filter subscription, the lifetime warranty gets voided.

Filterbaby

$113-$159 · IAPMO Certified NSF-177 · TIME Best Invention 2024 & 2025
4.0
Filterbaby showerhead

Legitimate credentials. IAPMO certified. Doctor-developed. Japanese activated carbon fiber. TIME Magazine named it a Best Invention two years running. The science behind the filter genuinely checks out. The problem is the experience. The pressure is noticeably weak. Sarah used it once and said it felt like rinsing conditioner under a garden hose. Changing the filter requires a strap wrench. Multiple Amazon reviewers said they had to buy one just to open the housing. It's an inline filter, not a replacement showerhead. No pressure boost of any kind.

Drivse

$49-$150+ · Not on Oasis · ⚠️ Flagged by Trustpilot
1.4 (flagged)
Drivse showerhead

Sarah found this from a Facebook ad. I unscrewed the housing. Cotton pad inside a plastic tube. That's the entire filter. No KDF-55, no activated carbon, no filtration media of any kind. Trustpilot has flagged and removed multiple fake reviews. Customers reporting unauthorized subscription charges. BBB complaints about orders that never shipped. The price jumps from $49 to over $150 depending on checkout upsells. No customer service. No phone number. No accountability. I would not install this in anyone's home.

The bottom line

After pulling all seven apart on my workbench, only one of them made me think, "I'd actually put this in my own house." And that's exactly what I did. The eskiin went into our shower and it's still there. Sarah's scalp itch stopped in the second week. By month two she was using half the moisturizer and seeing noticeably less hair in the drain. No new products. No routine change. Just the water.

Here's what I keep coming back to. Every product Sarah had been buying for over a year was trying to undo damage the water was doing every single morning. The leave-in conditioner. The scalp oil. The moisturizer. Hundreds of dollars, all treating a symptom. The actual cause was coming out of the showerhead the whole time. Once we fixed the water, everything else just stopped being necessary.

I've since recommended eskiin to over a dozen clients. It's the only showerhead I've tested with ultrafiltration membranes. The only one with the highest independent lab score on the Oasis platform. The only one where the pressure got stronger instead of weaker. And it costs less than most of the ones that failed.

If you've been spending money on products to fix what your water is doing to your skin and hair every morning, this is the part you're missing. The products aren't failing you. The water is. And this is the one thing I've found that actually fixes it at the source.

Plumber here. 15 years. Everything this guy said about the filter guts is accurate. I've been recommending eskiin to clients for months now. Good to see someone finally write it up properly.

The Canopy lead thing is TERRIFYING. I've had one for 6 months and now I feel sick thinking about it. Just ordered eskiin to replace it. Thank you for this article.

Spent $169 on Jolie because every influencer I follow had one. Two ingredients. TWO. I feel so stupid. Just ordered eskiin. Cheaper and it actually works.

Finally someone who explains what's INSIDE these things instead of just showing how pretty they look on a shelf. My plumber husband read this and said every word checks out.

Got mine last week. The pressure alone is worth it. Hair already feels different. Softer. Less frizzy. Haven't changed a single product. Just the water.

Moved into a new apartment with terrible hard water. My skin was breaking out for the first time in years. Installed eskiin three weeks ago and it's already clearing up. I can't believe a showerhead made this much difference.

Bought one for my mom after reading this. She called me two days later and said it was the best gift I've ever given her 😂 The water pressure was the first thing she noticed.
